Steve is the Manager of Gleadless Valley Community Forum, a regeneration agency in one of Sheffield’s most deprived communities. The Forum is one of the most trusted charitable organisations in Sheffield.
Steve began his career as a trainee accountant after completing his degree in English and Philosophy. He then worked for the Greater London Council as Deputy Head of Administration up until its demise in 1986. That year saw him travelling extensively in South and North America before moving into education and taking up a variety of posts in Athens.
Steve returned to London nine years later and discovered his true interest -working in charity development for a small children’s project, Hackney Quest. He and a Volunteer Coordinator turned the project from a failing initiative to a highly regarded agency in the space of three years.
Steve settled in Sheffield in 2005 and cut his teeth in community regeneration at Together for Regeneration, part of the Diocese of Sheffield followed by a very valuable 2 ½ years working at SOAR.
He now lives with his wife and young daughter in Sheffield and enjoys the outdoor life, particularly scuba diving whenever the chance arises and daily walks with the dog out into the Peaks.

Ronnie Lewin is the Director of Genius Design, a bespoke creative contemporary furniture manufacture business based in Sheffield. He is also the current Chair of Burngreave New Deal for Communities, an inner city regeneration programme aimed a closing the gap between some of the most disadvantaged communities within the city and the city average, through positive interventions.
Ronnie was born in Sheffield’s east end in 1972. Whilst growing up, he witnessed much social decay within his local area and was inspired to find out how and why these situations arose. Ronnie believes that all people have the ability to contribute to a city’s success if given a real equal chance to unlock talent and that extreme poverty and social isolation greatly cost us all. His past roles include the establishment of the Sheffield BME Business network at the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, putting finance and economics at the heart of sustainable BME communities and the Sheffield BME Volcom network. Ronnie’s key interests are equalities, social mobility and community development within Sheffield.
