Jeremy qualified in Medicine in 1982. After doing junior medical posts at St Thomas’, Burton-on-Trent and Derby Hospitals, he moved to Sheffield in 1985. Jeremy worked in Sheffield Hospitals (including doing research into kidney disease) until 1992, when he took up training in Public Health Medicine.
From 1996 – 2002, Jeremy was a Consultant in Public Health Medicine at Wakefield Health Authority, and in 2002, moved to become Director of Public Health at the North Sheffield Primary Care Trust (PCT). In November 2006 he was appointed Director of Public Health for the (newly formed) Sheffield PCT. This is a joint appointment with the Sheffield City Council.
Jeremy is also an honorary senior lecturer in Public Health Medicine at ScHARR, University of Sheffield.
Jeremy lives in Sheffield with his family, and when he has some spare time, he likes to work on his allotment, or get out of the city to go rock-climbing, hill walking or mountaineering.
