Inclusive and Cosmopolitan City Partnership
This partnership is responsible for ensuring Sheffield is a city where all are welcome and are able to enjoy the same opportunities. It is a development partnership with a remit to focus on the needs of the city’s most vulnerable people. By working with the delivery partnerships and offering expert advice and support, it will ensure that inclusion priorities are reflected in their plans.
The partnership is initially focussing on three key themes: Employment, Access to Services and Social Cohesion; and will consider the experiences of a groups vulnerable to exclusion in this context. A new social inclusion and cohesion strategy for the City is currently being developed, and an event will be held to engage with a wide range of stakeholders about the priorities for action.
We want Sheffield to be a city that welcomes all visitors and newcomers and is inclusive of all residents: a city that celebrates diversity and draws on the talents of all, openly encouraging people to mix and share their ideas and experiences. A place where all residents benefit from the city’s growth and prosperity and particularly the opportunities created through the achievement of the City Strategy.
By 2010 we expect to see:
- workforce profiles in key organisations (public services) that are more representative of the communities they serve at all levels;
- a more robust voluntary and community sector which gives a stronger voice to vulnerable groups;
- a public realm and services that are more accessible to all, with greater integration of the needs of vulnerable people into mainstream service provision;
- demonstrable progress against established targets and strong public satisfaction measures;
- cohesive communities in all neighbourhoods.
