Performance Matters

Sheffield First Partnership Board has set out the improvements it expects to make to the lives of local people in the Sheffield First Agreement 2008-2011.

The targets, included in the agreement, reflect local people’s concerns such as the levels of anti-social behaviour and the quality of the local environment.  The targets also cover areas where the city’s performance needs to improve to ensure that local people have the best outcomes in life, such as reducing childhood obesity and increasing the number of adults with qualifications.

How we report our performance

We want everyone to understand what we are trying to achieve and how we are performing. To do this we make sure that reports include numbers of people affected (not just %ages) and we have included plain English explanations of measures and outcomes.

In order to help all our partners understand what they need to do to improve performance, we assess the risk of not achieving the Partnership’s ambitions.  We do this every three months and look at risks in three areas:
  • Are all the right actions in place to improve performance?
  • Are we doing as well as other areas?
  • Are we improving quickly enough to really make a difference to people’s lives?

Where a measure is identified as high risk, we identify the actions that need to happen to help improve performance in those areas.
